| Hello everyone, I'm Space Titanium. You can call me Nix. I'm a university student obsessed with political economy, independent video games, noise rock, and Asian cinema, among other things. My username is a reference to the fictional alloy used to construct Mechagodzilla in the Showa era Godzilla movies. Pulsar and I go way back.
Ok, now you. | |

| Welcome, Nix. Glad to have you here. I think it's also important to mention that Space Titanium is also a moderator!
Now a bit about myself: University student. Love computer games, a lot of electronical music and movies. My main interest is the cosmos in general, though the more I learn the more I realise I don't know anything about it.

| I am Pulsar's wife, Alix! I find it rather strange posting on here so far, considering 'Pulsar' himself is lying in a bed nary two steps behind me, but thought this would be a somewhat neutral place to start. Also, we 'met' on a forum so this is somewhat strange in that respect too. I like: the 18th century, veganism and fair trade. Also dogs, especially our own little Kubrick (I also enjoy the books of Anthony Burgess. Yes that segway does make sense).
I don't always look like I do in my picture.

| Well, you know how it is in the early days of the forum. You try to get users and they make a single post to appease and you don't see them again. | |

| Experiment the first, to test the potential longevity of the forum: can I post on my phone?
Footnote: Pulsar said I shouldn't have a picture of myself as my avatar and as it's his forum I have decided to comply. This renders Titanium's comment on scariness mildly amusing.

| Have your other picture if you like, I just think it goes against the etiquette of forum posting! | |

| I get your point, but think the hilarity of that picture trumps etiquette. First fart reference of the forum, everyone! Enjoy!
I like this one just as much though...

The avatar is of me. Taken two days after being released from clown prison... Man, I got honked so many times in there!

| Hm. Guess I got things off to an awkward start.
So how long have you been a vegan? I gave up eggs and dairy a little over a month ago for ethical reasons. Haven't eaten meat in a long time, though I still eat salmon (I'm hoping Kurt Cobain was right about fish not having any feelings).

| haha it was I who made it awkward. I just have a 'thing' about assumptions that every historical period was Victorian, compounded by the fact that the Victorian era is my least favourite (and I find pretty much every aspect of social history from any time fascinating). Also the Victorians were so bloody uptight, whereas the Georgians were wild! I will stop going on about the sexy world of the 18th century now So yeah... I'm not actually a vegan yet, but have been vegetarian for a year now and am spending this year slowly acclimatising myself to becoming a vegan and am generally very excited about the whole thing! I'm lactose intolerant (though not hugely so) which gives me a head start I became a vegetarian largely because we live basically next door to a slaughterhouse. Honestly, the best decision I've ever made I'm such a nerd about it that I'm properly excited that you are a pescetarian! Woohoo! As for the fish thing, remember, they are the only animal that is regularly killed in our societies by 'drowning' (being pulled out of the water, sometimes the change in pressure makes their eyes bulge), pressure from the weight of other fish if they're on the bottom of the pile, or having their guts or gills cut out while still alive. Fish is, however, the one single thing I miss from becoming vegetarian so even I find it hard to truly believe these very compelling arguments when I smell some smoked salmon, for example... Shall we move this over to the 'mission control' section? I'd really like to know what made you decide to stop eating animals, but am sure we will bore everyone else if we continue here.... | |
